How to Transfer Chase Points to Travel Partners (Airlines & Hotels) - A Step-by-Step Guide
If you've been earning Chase Ultimate Rewards® points and wondering how to actually use them for travel, you're in the right place. One of the best ways to get the most value out of your Chase points is by transferring them to airline and hotel partners.
This guide will walk you through exactly how to transfer Chase points, step by step, with beginner-friendly explanations and screenshots to help you along the way.
WHY TRANSFER CHASE POINTS?
When you transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners, you often get far more value than if you book through the Chase travel portal or redeem points for cash back.
For example:
A flight that costs $1,200 might only require 60,000 points if booked through a transfer partner versus 120,000 points if you redeem in Chase Travel.
A luxury hotel night that normally costs $500+ could be yours for 25,000 points or less versus 50,000 if you redeem in Chase Travel.
It’s how many travelers (myself included!) fly in business class and stay in 5-star hotels without paying full price.
WHO CAN TRANSFER CHASE POINTS?
You’ll need one of Chase’s Ultimate Rewards earning cards to access point transfers:
The cards below earn points but they can only be transferred to airlines and hotels after moving them to a Chase Ultimate Rewards earning card listed above.
CHASE TRAVEL PARTNERS: AIRLINES AND HOTELS
Chase has 11 airline partners and 3 hotel partners, and points transfer 1:1, meaning 1,000 Chase points = 1,000 miles or hotel points. That means that if you find a flight, bookable with points on any of the airlines or hotels below, you can redeem your Chase points for them.

STEP-BY-STEP: HOW TO TRANSFER CHASE POINTS TO TRAVEL PARTNERS
You have found the award flight or award night you want to book on one of the Chase travel partners above. Now let’s walk through the process of transferring your points so you can book. Some airlines will hold the award flights for you while you transfer so I think it’s worth calling after you find the flights you want.
Step 1: Log In to Your Chase Account
Head to Chase.com and sign in to your account.
Step 2: Go to the “Ultimate Rewards” Portal
From your account dashboard, click on your eligible Chase card (like the Sapphire Preferred), then select “Redeem” or “Go to Ultimate Rewards”. This may look different if you’re on the Chase app.
Select the card that earns Ultimate Rewards. In this example, it’s the Sapphire Preferred.
Step 3: Select “Transfer to Travel Partners”
Once inside the Ultimate Rewards portal, look for the “Transfer to Travel Partners” option. This is usually under the “Earn/Use” or “Travel” tab.
Step 4: Choose a Travel Partner
Click on the airline or hotel program you want to transfer points to.
Note: You must be a member of the loyalty program you're transferring to. If you’re not, you can sign up directly from the Chase portal or on the partner's website. It’s free. Make sure that the name on your loyalty account matches the name on your Chase account exactly. This is one of the first steps you should do as outlined in my Beginner’s Guide.
From here you can scroll through until you find the travel transfer partner you want to use
Step 5: Enter Your Loyalty Number
Add your frequent flyer or hotel membership number for the program you’re transferring points to. You’ll only need to do this once per partner.
Enter your airline loyalty number where indicated.
Step 6: Choose How Many Points to Transfer
Enter the number of points you want to transfer. Transfers must be made in 1,000-point increments.
Double-check everything. Transfers are final and cannot be reversed.
Step 7: Confirm and Transfer
Click “Confirm & Submit”. You’ll get a confirmation screen once the transfer is complete.
Most transfers are instant, but some (like Singapore Airlines) may take up to 24–48 hours.
At this point, you can return to the airline or hotel website, refresh the page or log back in and your point balance should reflect the transfer was successful.
PRO TIPS FOR TRANSFERRING CHASE POINTS
Always search and confirm award availability first before transferring points. That means that you will search for flights on a Chase transfer partner airline or hotel site and confirm that it is available to book with points BEFORE you transfer.
Transfers are permanent and one way only. Only move points when you know you’ll use them. I never recommend speculative transfers.
Use tools like Point.me or Seats.aero to find the best flight redemptions. But keep in mind that these tools, while super helpful, are not always running in real time. So although it may show a flight is available, it’s your responsibility to confirm that by finding it on the airlines website.
Not all transfer partners have the same value. For example, transferring points to Marriott and IHG are a poor value compared to transferring points to Hyatt. You can book a $450/night Hyatt for around 20k Chase points compared to 65k-70k points for an equal room at Marriott.
If your points don’t transfer instantly, don’t panic. Some partners (like Singapore Airlines or Marriott Bonvoy) can take up to 24–48 hours to process. Double-check that your loyalty program number was entered correctly, and if needed, contact Chase customer service for confirmation
You cannot transfer points from your Chase account to your spouse’s airline or hotel loyalty account UNLESS they are an authorized user on your card. Chase allows free pooling of points, so if you want to book from your spouse’s account because they have status, you can call Chase and transfer your points to their Chase account and then they can transfer the points to the airline or hotel.
Final Thoughts
Learning how to transfer Chase points to travel partners is a game-changer. It’s the key to unlocking maximum value for your points that will allow you to book luxury travel experiences without spending thousands of dollars.
Happy Travels!
